Innovate UK’s Biomedical Catalyst is a powerful funding instrument designed to accelerate the transition of innovative ideas and discoveries into impactful healthcare solutions, converting these ideas into commercially viable businesses. Grants are available for UK-based SMEs, including spinouts and start-ups, conducting R&D projects across a variety of healthcare sectors, including medicines and pharmaceuticals, health technologies, and digital health technologies. Calls for proposals come in the form of thematic ‘Accelerators’ aimed at early-stage health and life science businesses conducting feasibility studies, as well as ‘Industry-Led R&D’ calls supporting pre-market R&D projects. Successful applicants can expect to benefit from substantial funding of up to £2m to de-risk their innovations and accelerate their journey to market.
