The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Invention for Innovation (i4i) programme is a translational research funding scheme aimed at medical devices, in vitro diagnostic devices and digital health technologies addressing an existing or emerging health or social care need. This programme comprises 3 schemes: Product Development Awards (PDA) – no maximum funding limit, Connect – £50k-£150k funding, and Funding at the Speed of Translation (FAST) – typically £15k – £50k funding. These schemes are a powerful collaborative opportunity for SMEs and Higher Education Institutions (HEI) such as universities and research institutes.
